As fall winds down and our lacrosse-complementary field sports enthusiasts turn their attention from football and soccer to hockey and basketball, many folks have inquired as to the "best" winter plan for our growing and enthusiastic group of young, lacrosse-oriented Evanstonians.  As a supplement to our guys' participation in primary winter sports, we suggest these indoor offerings below to keep the lacrosse fire burnin' until full combustion next spring:

Saturday Evening Skill building at the ETHS field house (tire them out before they do their social thing on Saturday nights)
-  5 Saturdays evenings from 6-8PM: 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/20, 2/27 (NOT on 3-day holiday weekends).
-  For Juniors (6-7 grade) and Seniors (8) of all experience levels.
Recommended for players aspiring to make the spring Junior or Senior "A" teams to really sharpen their basic skills and "field sense" - so we can jump right into strategy and tactics on the way to a winning 2010 North Shore Lacrosse League campaign.
Also recommended for less experienced players as there will be lots of work on fundamentals and plenty of "reps" with an eye on bringing along the newer players too.

Price $30 - REQUIRES USLACROSSE MEMBERSHIP! (true for all EYLA programs, the registration process will go smoothly if you first obtain your son's annual membership ($25).  If he needs one, start at www.uslacrosse.org and press [Join Now],  be sure to join "Evanston Youth Lacrosse" along the way)

Grades 6/7 & 8th Experienced

Experienced 6/7 graders should consider Thursday evenings at the new Highland Park Sports Dome (along US 41). The facility is great, the drive is reasonable (20 mins to/from NW Evanston),  and the fields are spacious.  Session 2 begins Jan 21 (8 weeks).   One problem might be that Thursday night is a "school night" which may be a bit of a strain on homework, basketball practice/games, and family time.

Grades 6/7 & Experienced

Sunday afternoons in Libertyville.  It's a longer drive, but the time is possibly a better family fit.  Session 2 starts Jan 17 ( Session 8 weeks).

Coach Mayne will likely lead a carpool group for Session 2 of this program.  (Why only session 2?, read on...).
